John H. Bruns, principal and president of Puget Pullway Inc is an aircraft and spacecraft engineer who has lately turned his attention to innovative surface transportation systems.
After college in the 1950s, John entered the U.S. Air Force to serve as an officer and pilot in multi-engine jets, later flying with the Air National Guard in Kansas.
As a civilian, he began an aviation design career at Cessna in Wichita, and soon moved over to Boeing, which transferred him to Seattle in 1969. Much of his work involved aviation electronics, including computer-based automation. He was responsible for projects with budgets in the hundreds of millions of dollars.
After retirement from Boeing in 1989, he focused on research on transportation innovations, at first in watercraft, and since 2001 on development of the Pullway concept. He holds five patents to date, including a recent one that covers all aspects of the Pullway.
